Since the sick notes thing has taken off, I have had to get more creative. This usually means starting the note the night before to get it to where I like it. 10 minutes before the kids needed to leave for the bus this morning, I realized I had not written a sick note. And since I had forgotten to call his absence in, there was no way around it. So it's much closer to my earlier notes, but it made me laugh.

First Middle School Note
The kids have been healthy during the week, so this is actually the first sick note to go to the middle school. I figured I would go easy on them until they get accustomed to "that weird dad."

Loco Media Consultants
For
immediate press release (March 16, 2017):
This last
week (3/13-3/15) fever-hot star Sophia
Hawkins (“She’s a perfect 102.9!” -Fahrenheit) has been home ill. We firmly deny all rumors to the contrary,
including: candy rehab, Girl Scout Mafia takeover and “was left behind at Wolf
Ridge”. We especially want to deny the
following rumors: kitten juggling, unicorn hunting and dog teasing. Sophia is and always has been a firm animal
advocate*.
We would
like to redirect all media attention to her upcoming performances. Sophia will be a Master Saxophonist at the
upcoming JMS Arts Extravaganza and Danceline Girl at the Bauer Spring
Recital. She will also be playing a key
role** in the upcoming Star Wars movie. Watch for many more appearances by this breakout
star!

President's Day
It's been a long time since we have had an illness in the house that actually kept the kids out of school. Devlin finally broke the streak. Since Monday is President's Day, I figured a theme note was in order.

Bard Slapped
Devlin has been home sick for a couple days, so I decided to see how much I could make Shakespeare spin in his grave. And for the record, it is NOT in iambic pentameter. I kept it close, but I'm not that much of a masochist....

Ear Wars
Devlin got a double ear infection. So I finally got to use this idea that I've been saving for him for about a year, since he didn't miss any school last year.
I originally tried doing this on PowerPoint to animate the scroll and got it to work, but then realized I had no idea how to post it here or get it to the teacher.

Virus of the Month Club
I was joking that Sophie gets a new virus every month when school is in session. I tried putting that in a standard style note, but it just wasn't working for me. Then I noticed the pamphlet template in Word and I decided to play with it.
We were actually worried that Sophie had the Enterovirus this time. It triggered her asthma something fierce. But, as usual, just as I started to freak out she got better. And gave it to me....
